As recently posted, I had this badly broken and bent part for the long case clock needing repair.  This rod connects the pendulum to the escapement the crucial bit that allows for the conversion of the pendulums period to meter rotary motion

The “steel” rod  is wrought iron which is different to work with

The process was:

  1. Bend everything straight using localized red heat so as to not fracture
  2. silver solder the fracturing along the parts (three locations)
  3. join the two broken pieces via a silver soldered scarf joint

Everything worked out well and its soon to go back into the clock (after the clock is serviced)
